Growing in hydroponics, growers found tastier and healthier vegetables and fruits in their hydroponics garden. Though growers enjoy growing purely organic garden, they experience an unpleasant and different kind of smell in their hydroponics garden. The bad smell is present in the hydroponics systems; since it has closed systems with controlled temperatures you cannot escape the bad smell.
Hydroponics is nothing but growing plants in organic ways using water, growing medium and nutrients. Odors often cause because of bacteria, temperature and of course nutrients. When organic growing medium is used in hydroponics and the plant root grows in hydroponics gets contact with organic material which is present in organic growing medium. This cause the bacteria to grow and spread the odor into your grow room. These bacteria often cause bad odors so instead of using an organic growing medium like coconut fiber you can use inorganic growing media like perlite, expanded clay such as hydroton, rockwool and growstones. This inorganic growing media is very valuable and reusable. Due to the ease of use this medium has a constant place both in horticulture and hydroponics.
Another reason for bad odor is microbes. Make sure you maintain the microbial balance in your hydroponics systems to get rid of this bad odor in your grow room. Introduce beneficial microbes into your hydroponics system along with nutrient solution to balance the pH. These beneficial microbes’ works well when you keep your nutrient solution well oxygenated. Instead of constantly using nutrients and changing growing medium you can simply change some of your systems.
Setup carbon filters, which is most popular to clean and filter the odor and release the odorless air. These carbon filters are highly effective with low maintenance. Use baddass blower in your grow room which is a combination of timers and temperature sensors with their fans. This gives you a superior velocity of air movement. Whenever the temperature of your grow room exceeds to a certain level this fan turns on at a certain intervals.
Every week replace your nutrient solution to make sure your solution remains stable and clean. Check and clean your reservoir, pipes, pumps and nutrients. Remove dead parts, stems, leaves and foliage of the plants and keep the entire area clean. Use nutrients which are specifically designed and safe for hydroponics gardening.
Taking care of these kinds of small things in your hydroponics will reward you healthier and bigger yields. Make sure you enjoy growing odorless hydroponics garden in your grow room.
